1 DAY: HAGHARSTIN MONASTERY– GOSHAVANK- SEVAN(SEVANAVANK)
The monastic complex Haghartsin Bagratuni was founded in the 10th century. According to historian Kirakos Gandzakeci, the monastery was built in the 10-13 centuries. It includes four churches of Saint Grigor (1244), Saint Astvatsatsin (1281), Saint Katoghike (12th century) and Saint Stephen (1232), two courtyards, a refectory, prayer halls and khachkars.
Goshavank is a 12th-or 13th-century Armenian monastery. In this impressive monastery that has been preserved in relatively good condition also houses one of the world’s finest examples of khachkars. Mkhitar gosh founded a school in Goshavank. Later, the complex was renamed Goshavank and the village was named gosh after him.
Sevanavank is a monastic complex located on a Peninsula on the northwestern shore of lake Sevan. According to an inscription in one of the churches, the Sevanavank monastery was founded in 874 by Princess Mariam, daughter of Ashot I at that time, Armenia was still fighting for liberation from Arab rule.

Built in the Ionic order in the village of Garni, Armenia, it is the best-known structure and symbol of pre-Christian Armenia. The structure was probably built by king Tiridates I in the first century AD as a temple to the god of sun Mihr.
Geghard is a medieval monastery in the Kotayk province of Armenia, being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage. The name commonly used for the monastery today, Geghard, or more fully Geghardavank meaning “the Monastery of the Spear”, originates from the spear which had wounded Jesus at the Crucifixion, allegedly brought to Armenia by Apostle Jude, called here Thaddeus, and stored amongst many other relics.
