Telavi is considered not only the center of the region, but also the center of Georgian winemaking. It is one of the oldest cities in Georgia, first mentioned in the I century ad.

Batonistsikhe – “Lord”, an architectural monument of the XVII–XVIII centuries in Telavi, the main city of the Eastern region of Georgia Kakheti. The complex includes preserved parts of the Persian Palace of the kings of Kakheti and a Museum with archaeological and ethnographic exhibits, manuscripts, rare publications and military equipment, as well as a gallery of fine arts. The entire complex was completely renovated in 2018.
